Welcome to Rosemarsland : A little piece of wild Cornwall, hidden deep within the Marsland Nature Reserve. Tucked away in one of Cornwall’s wildest corners, just metres from the Devon border, Rosemarsland is one of the very few private houses nestled within the reserve itself — a truly extraordinary place where ancient woodland, wildflower meadows, river valleys and one of the most untouched stretches of coastline in the South West come together. Originally an ancient byre dating back to the 1800s, Rosemarsland became a working farm in 1941 and has evolved over generations into the beautiful period home you see today. In 2024, it was lovingly taken on by Amy & William Searle, who set about giving the house a complete transformation while preserving the character, history and wildness that make it so special. A place to escape. From the moment you arrive, the outside world seems to disappear. From the house, you are surrounded by breathtaking views across the ancient woodland. Settle beside the firepit as the light fades through the trees and listen to nothing but birdsong, the river and the sounds of the reserve around you. And then there is the coast. From Rosemarsland, you can walk straight from the front door, following the river through the woods for around a mile until the valley opens onto Marsland Mouth Beach — a wonderfully secluded stretch of coastline accessible only on foot. It is the kind of place where you can arrive and feel as though you have discovered it for yourself. But the beach is only a tiny part of what makes this place so extraordinary. The Marsland Nature Reserve has been described as: “A magical, secretive mix of woodland, one of the UK’s wildest coastlines and butterfly-filled meadows — all in a single stream valley.” With an abundance of walks beginning right from the front door, there is no need to get in the car to find adventure. Wander through ancient woodland, follow the river, explore the cliffs and coves, or simply find a quiet spot and do absolutely nothing. And when you do want to venture further afield, the very best of North Cornwall and Devon is within easy reach, with Bude and Clovelly both around 12 miles away.
